In the first game it was typical to build your army comfortably at your base before setting out to attack. Some grant increased energy, which you use to upgrade your units, tech level, and train specialist units, like the UNSC Sniper. Multiple objectives are scattered across the traditional maps. Most of the game's original modes return in Halo Wars 2, but changes to the core mechanics have given the game a different flow. Halo Wars, even up to the Definitive Edition release a few months ago, still had a few thousand loyal players battling it out. Well, I won't say anything beyond that it has big implications for any future titles. Some of the DLC will even have the player control the Banished. While the Campaign does end on a cliffhanger (Would it be a Halo game if it didn't?), additional story DLC has been announced. What ensues is one of the most intense battles to be seen in an RTS, with wave after wave of Banished armies assaulting your position while you rain down seven shades of hell upon them. The conclusion is something uniquely satisfying, as you're given limitless resources, access to fully upgraded units, and the simple objective to hold out. Overall the Campaign is a solid experience throughout with plenty of alternative strategies and secrets to plunder. As with the first game, the later into the game you get, the more units become open to you, as do potential strategies. Actively having to consider where I spent my supplies and energy alike. Halo Wars 2 is one of the major titles to feature Xbox Play anywhere, meaning purchasing it on PC makes it available to you on Xbox One and vice versa. The resulting game is something worthy of Ensemble's work on the original. Halo Wars 2 was announced in 2015, being developed by 343 Industries and Creative Assembly, the studio behind the Total War series. The original was developed by the late Ensemble Studios, developers of the iconic Age of Empires franchise. It was one of the few games to execute the RTS genre effectively on a console control scheme. It's no secret that the gaming industry is full of games that deserved sequels.
